Interpretability of AI system: overview and future directions
About the speaker: Maxime Peyrard is a junior Professor at the LIG in Grenoble, affiliated with the NLP team GetAlp. Before this role, he was a Postdoctoral Scholar at EPFL, working with Robert West in the Data Science Lab. In 2019, he earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the UKP lab at TU Darmstadt under the supervision of Iryna Gurevych. His research focuses on addressing challenges in NLP systems by moving beyond the traditional statistical approach and adopting a causal perspective. With causal methods, he is interested in tackling issues such as out-of-distribution generalization, biases in pre-trained models, and extracting mechanistic interpretations of complex model behaviors.
