We present a case study concerning the use of business process simulation to support the understanding and integration of an inter-enterprise document authoring and translation process. The objective of the simulation was to foster understanding, reflection, and learning, and to feed the discussion about process integration between the authoring process and the translation process. Two approaches to simulation were taken that together were effective, on the one hand, in qualitatively showing the dynamic dependencies among the various sub-processes and, on the other hand, revealing the human impact of introducing organizational changes.
