USER STUDIES
COLLABORATIVE DOCUMENT AUTHORING
We have become interested in understanding how people collaborate in the preparation of documents, so that we can make more informed predictions about the impact of new technologies such as CamWorks on document preparation. Our studies of collaborative document authoring have given us a number of insights in this area.
RESEARCHERS IN LIBRARIES
The goal of our library study was to understand how research students use books and other source materials in libraries. The study was carried out in order to inform the design of technologies that might support research activities. It has helped us to understand how technologies such as CamWorks might affect the productivity of researchers whose work focuses heavily on reading and authoring.
STUDIES CURRENTLY UNDER WAY
We are currently engaged in studies of legal practice in a large international law firm, and of general practitioners at a London medical practice. These studies are being undertaken to broaden our understanding of the requirements for collaborative and multimedia systems.
