An indoor positioning system (IPS) is a system to locate objects or people inside a building using various sensory information collected by a mobile device.
While GPS is used as the de-facto well established technology for outdoor localization, there is a rise of new technologies for Indoor settings.
During this internship we will advance our technology on localizing and tracking a user relying only on the built-in sensors of a smartphone, in both offline and real-time settings.
Since there are many different smartphone manufactures and models, the system needs to be capable of dealing with a variety of devices with different characteristics.
The ultimate goal is to build a complete system that provides a seamless outdoor/indoor real-time positioning and navigation experience to the end user.
You will carry out research and development activity to achieve important milestones toward this goal.
You will have a chance to test your algorithms in real world and participate in competition(s), that bring together leading academic and industrial research communities
in order to evaluate different approaches and to address real issues on indoor/urban positioning and navigation.
NAVER LABS Europe has full-time positions, PhD and PostDoc opportunities throughout the year which are advertised here and on international conference sites that we sponsor such as CVPR, ICCV, ICML, NeurIPS, EMNLP etc.
NAVER LABS Europe is an equal opportunity employer.
NAVER LABS are in Grenoble in the French Alps. We have a multi and interdisciplinary approach to research with scientists in machine learning, computer vision, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, ethnography and UX working together to create next generation ambient intelligence technology and services that deeply understand users and their contexts.
