As Robotics for autonomous manipulation and navigation is impacted by machine learning for coping with uncertainty of the real world, the Machine Learning and Optimization group is seeking to hire a post-doc to continue its recent development in efficient task learning.
While deep learning is becoming predominant in data-science, the introduction of this approach in robotic still is at its start and large progress can already be foreseen for the near future.
In the context of the task learning project, we are developing novel methods for robust and efficient task acquisition in the context of robotic-arm manipulation related to meta-learning and hierarchical control.
From a theoretical perspective, sequential decision making under uncertainty is already a major subject of the Machine Learning and Optimization group that we plan to continue developing.
For these reasons, we plan to hire a profile who will contribute to our vision at the frontier of modern machine learning and robotics. In this context, the successful candidate will work in close collaboration with Seungsu Kim and Julien Perez in the context of the robotic-arm task learning project.
